All American Season 6 Delayed by The CW

The CW's fall 2023 television schedule is now devoid of any original scripted series. In an announcement on Wednesday, the network unveiled its revised fall lineup, which resulted in All American being shifted from a fall return to midseason. The highly anticipated Season 6 of the series, originally slated for Mondays this fall, will now premiere later. Additionally, the acquired drama 61st Street and the "I Am" documentary film franchise have also been postponed to midseason. The network had previously confirmed that an abbreviated fourth season of Walker would also be held for midseason.

The decision to move All American to midseason is likely a consequence of the ongoing Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike, which has caused delays in numerous television programs across various networks and streaming platforms. This situation has led networks to rely on unscripted programming to fill scheduling gaps. In response, The CW has bolstered its fall 2023-2024 schedule with unscripted content, including the recently rescued series FBoy Island from Max, as well as established shows like Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Masters of Illusion, and Pen & Teller: Fool Us. Additionally, the network has embraced acquired foreign programming, such as Sullivan's Crossing, which has received an early Season 2 renewal, and the European eco-thriller The Swarm. The revised fall 2023-2024 schedule for The CW is provided below.

The Ongoing Writer's Strike Has Impacted A Number of Series

The ongoing WGA strike continues to impact various television series, and All American is not the only show affected. According to a recent report, Prime Video's Citadel Season 2 has been delayed until late 2024 or early 2025 due to the strike. Similarly, production on the Season 2 of Paramount+'s Yellowstone prequel spinoff series, 1923, as well as Tulsa King's second season, has also been affected by the WGA strike.

Despite these delays, some series remain unaffected and continue to progress as planned. Amazon Prime Video's highly anticipated The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is still set for a premiere in 2024. Additionally, The Boys: Gen V is still on track for a fall debut.

The impact of the WGA strike on the television industry is widespread, resulting in schedule adjustments and production delays for various shows. However, some productions are managing to stay on schedule while others face postponements until the strike is resolved.
