Baldur's Gate 3 Gets New Release Date on Both PC and PS5

Larian Studios, the renowned developer behind Baldur's Gate 3, has surprised fans with a new release date for the highly-anticipated RPG. Initially slated for a simultaneous launch on PC and PlayStation 5 on the final day of August, the release schedule has been adjusted, allowing PC players to experience Baldur's Gate 3 almost a full month earlier. However, PlayStation 5 players will need to exercise a bit more patience than expected.

In a recent update, Larian announced that Baldur's Gate 3 would now be available on August 3, 2023, for PC. The studio made this change to ensure fans have more time to immerse themselves in the game. Unfortunately, the PS5 launch date has been pushed back by approximately one week to September 6, 2023. Larian cited the need for additional development time to optimize the game for a 60 frames-per-second performance option on the PS5.

Larian stated, "We don't want to compromise on quality and feel it would be a shame to downscale to 30fps or make other compromises to hit an arbitrary date. We understand that folks may be disappointed with this, but we're close enough to reaching new heights for RPGs on the system that the benefits of a short delay outweigh the downsides of rushing the PS5 release and having to downscale."

Furthermore, Larian confirmed that they are actively working on an Xbox version of Baldur's Gate 3. However, the studio will not unveil the Xbox edition until they can ensure optimal performance across the entire Xbox X|S ecosystem, including multiplayer and split-screen functionalities. While the eventual release of Baldur's Gate 3 on Xbox is certain, the specific date remains unknown. Additionally, the full Mac version will also be released at a later date, with further details to be announced in due course.
