Discovery Channel Releases Full Shark Week 2023 Schedule



We're less than two weeks away from the highly anticipated Shark Week, a week-long celebration and exploration of shark behavior, airing on Discovery Channel starting Sunday, July 23rd. This year marks the 35th anniversary of the event, and to make it even more exciting, Discovery Channel has enlisted the renowned actor, conservationist, and superhero, Jason Momoa, to serve as the host. In addition to airing on Discovery Channel, the new specials will also be available for streaming on Max.


According to the press release, Jason Momoa, known for his passion for ocean conservation, will guide fans through nearly 20 new hours of television programming featuring the apex predators. The lineup includes thrilling new events and captivating chapters in ongoing series. Some of the highlights include "Belly of the Beast: Feeding Frenzy," which offers a close-up look at a great white shark feast, captured by researchers using cameras inside a whale carcass decoy. Another program, "Cocaine Sharks," explores the effects of sharks potentially feeding on illegal drugs dumped in South Florida waters.


Shark Week is not only a top-rated programming event that attracted over 28 million viewers last year, but it also showcases innovative technology used to track and study unique shark species and their predators.
