First EA Sports FC Icon Leak Features Fan-Favorite Brazilian

EA Sports FC is the upcoming rebrand of EA's long-standing FIFA franchise, as the company has chosen not to renew the license. Fans are hopeful that this change will bring fresh and engaging content to EA Sports FC, particularly in the popular Ultimate Team mode. While it remains to be seen if this will be the case, a recent leak has given us a glimpse of what to expect in the new game.

The leak, originating from FUT Sheriff on Twitter, reveals the first new Icon player for EA Sports FC: the legendary Brazilian player Zico. FUT Sheriff has a track record of accurately leaking various promotions during FIFA 23, earning them a degree of trust among the community. However, it's important to approach leaks with caution, especially when it comes to new Icons. In the past, unofficially announced players have not always made it into the final release, particularly at such an early stage in the development cycle. Nonetheless, Zico has been a rumored addition for a long time, and given FUT Sheriff's reliability, this leak appears to have some legitimacy.

Zico, alongside fellow Brazilian Icon Socrates, was one of the standout players for Brazil during the 1970s and 1980s. Despite their talent, those teams were unable to secure a World Cup victory. Zico, known for his exceptional skills as an attacking midfielder, earned a reputation as one of the era's best dribblers and playmakers. While he has previously been featured as a Legend in PES, his inclusion in EA Sports FC's Ultimate Team would mark his first appearance in that franchise. If the leaks turn out to be accurate, many fans will be delighted, as Zico is a popular choice among Icon wishlist selections, often mentioned alongside Franz Beckenbauer.

This leak is just the beginning of the hype cycle for EA Sports FC. If the game intends to maintain its usual late September release window, EA will likely unveil it in the near future. We already know that the game will utilize the new Sapien technology, as seen in Madden NFL 24, but fans are eagerly anticipating further details as the franchise moves away from the FIFA license.
