How To With John Wilson Final Season Gets New Trailer

HBO's How To with John Wilson, one of the most captivating documentary series in recent years, is unfortunately coming to a close with its upcoming Season 3. While fans are saddened by its departure, the nature of the program and John Wilson's unique documentary style make it a challenging project to sustain indefinitely. Nevertheless, the final season promises to maintain the show's consistency. To give fans a glimpse of what's in store, HBO has released an all-new trailer, which you can watch below. How To with John Wilson Season 3 is set to premiere on July 28th.

In Season 3, documentary filmmaker and self-proclaimed "anxious New Yorker" John Wilson embarks on another heartfelt journey of self-discovery, exploration, and observation. He continues to document the lives of his fellow New Yorkers while offering seemingly simple yet unexpectedly profound advice on six new topics. Executive producers Nathan Fielder (known for HBO's The Rehearsal), Michael Koman, and Clark Reinking, who previously collaborated on Nathan For You, bring their expertise to the series. Building upon the foundation of Season 2, the episodes take surprising twists as John delves into diverse subjects, such as finding a public restroom, working out, and cleaning your ears.

"When we embarked on Season 3, the idea of it being the final season brought an exciting sense of possibility. It opened up new narrative avenues that weren't previously available and allowed us to explore some truly ambitious ideas," Wilson shared in a statement when the announcement for the last season was made. "While a part of me would be content to continue making How To indefinitely, I take great pride in keeping the style and imagery surprising, and I prefer to end the show while we can still achieve that. Thematically, we also reach a sort of vanishing point by the finale, making it feel like a natural conclusion."

He further explained, "I plan to continue experimenting in the realm of non-fiction, and any leftover ideas will find their way into my next project. The endeavor of capturing the current moment never truly ends, and even as the work may change titles and shift forms, there will always be something worth documenting. It's truly miraculous that a show like this found its way onto HBO in the first place, and after 18 episodes, it feels like we pulled off an incredible feat. I'm melancholic about ending a project with such an amazing team, but I am immensely grateful to HBO for their unwavering support and for allowing us to explore and experiment over three incredible seasons. So, to all the fans of the show, thank you for watching, and get ready for an extraordinary journey."

How To with John Wilson will premiere on HBO and HBO Max on July 28th.
