It's Time Naruto Announced a New Movie

The last time Naruto, Boruto, and the ninjas of the Hidden Leaf Village graced the silver screen was in 2015 with "Boruto: Naruto The Movie." This film served as an introduction to the next generation of Konoha's powerful ninjas, paving the way for the subsequent "Boruto: Naruto Next Generations" series, which delved into the adventures of the Seventh Hokage's son. Given that Studio Pierrot has taken a hiatus from the Boruto series, now seems to be an opportune moment to embark on the creation of a fresh movie that can further enrich the lore of the ninja world.

Although the previous feature-length films in the franchise have varied in their adherence to the main Naruto storyline, much like the Dragon Ball series, some movies have explored original content while others have adapted stories from the manga. While the last film was considered "canon," there have been several movies that took place outside the main continuity. The current time period of Boruto, which has primarily been explored through the television series and manga, offers abundant untapped potential for a new movie. Despite the workload on Pierrot's plate, the studio recently demonstrated its ability to produce animated projects of feature length with the creation of a new movie for Black Clover titled "Sword of The Wizard King."

What Would a New Naruto Movie Look Like?

There have been a total of eleven movies released within the Naruto franchise. While only one of them features Boruto Uzumaki as the protagonist, there is still a wealth of untapped material when it comes to exploring the history of Konoha. In addition to delving into Naruto's early life, a new movie could delve into the untold stories surrounding the founding members of Konoha, Jiraiya, Minato, or other influential ninjas who paved the way for both Naruto and Boruto. Alternatively, the film could even shed light on the past of some of the series' notable villains.

Currently, Studio Pierrot has confirmed the arrival of new episodes for the original Naruto anime this September. However, the future of the Boruto: Naruto Next Generations anime remains uncertain. Given the circumstances, the time is ripe for another movie set in the Hidden Leaf Village. It would be an excellent opportunity to bring Naruto and Boruto back to the big screen and embark on a new cinematic adventure.
