Nimona Creator ND Stevenson Jokes She-Ra Crossover Would Bring "Chaos"

Netflix's recent release, Nimona, draws inspiration from the graphic novel by ND Stevenson and shares some similarities with the beloved animated series She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, which aired on the platform from 2018 to 2020. Stevenson, who was involved in the development of the 2018 version of She-Ra, is now bringing another of his graphic novels to life. This has naturally sparked curiosity among fans about the potential crossover between these worlds of swords, sorcery, and girl power. Although Stevenson jokes that it would result in chaos, it seems chaos isn't necessarily a bad thing in this context.

The new film, which premiered last week, follows the story of a shape-shifting teenager in a medieval world that incorporates elements of technology and mysticism. With such a complex blend already present, adding the extensive lore and larger-than-life personalities of the She-Ra characters would undoubtedly take things to another level.

Stevenson humorously remarks, "Oh my God. I don't think the world would survive. I think there would be a catastrophic... Yeah, that would be a lot of chaos in one place, but I think they'd get along. I think they would definitely burn something down, but they'd get along very well."

She-Ra and the Princesses of Power was a reboot of the classic 1985 cartoon, which originated from the Masters of the Universe franchise. Serving as the female counterpart to He-Man in the 1980s, She-Ra has become an iconic figure in popular culture. DreamWorks breathed new life into the character by reimagining her origins through Stevenson's show.

The animated series followed the journey of Adora, a young orphan from the planet Etheria, who learns that she is destined to be a Princess of Power. Upon discovering her transformative abilities as She-Ra, she embarks on a mission to unite the scattered Princesses of Power and free her planet from the clutches of the villainous Hordak and his oppressive Horde.

Below, you can find the official synopsis for Nimona:

"A Knight is framed for a crime he didn't commit and the only person who can help him prove his innocence is Nimona, a shape-shifting teen who might also be a monster he's sworn to kill. Set in a techno-medieval world unlike anything animation has tackled before, this is a story about the labels we assign to people and the shapeshifter who refuses to be defined by anyone."

Nimona, the highly anticipated film adaptation of ND Stevenson's graphic novel, has now been released and is available for streaming on Netflix.
