One Piece Day 2023 to Stream in English for the First Time

One Piece Day, an annual event in Japan that celebrates all things One Piece, has announced an exciting surprise for its English-speaking fans this year. They will be streaming an "English interpretation" of the special day, bringing the festivities to a wider audience.

To build anticipation for the event, One Piece Day released a thrilling promo video featuring Luffy's awe-inspiring Gear Fifth transformation. While Luffy has showcased this ultimate form a few times in the manga, anime fans have only caught a glimpse of it during the latest film in the franchise, One Piece Film: Red. As the War For Wano Arc unfolds in the television series, fans have been eagerly speculating whether this upcoming event will finally unveil Luffy's transformation in the series itself.

What is One Piece Day?

One Piece Day originated in 2017 as a celebration dedicated to the immensely popular shonen franchise. This year's event will be streamed on Friday and Saturday, July 21st and 22nd. As the event follows Japan's time zone, it will begin at 1 AM Pacific Time on the first night and then at 5:40 PM for the second night. Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc. has provided a detailed breakdown of the official announcement for the highly anticipated event:

"In collaboration with Shueisha Inc. and Toei Animation Co., Ltd., Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc. will hold "ONE PIECE DAY '23", an event that brings together all aspects of ONE PIECE including: manga, anime, movies, music, games, and merchandise for "ONE PIECE" fans all over the world. ONE PIECE DAY '23 will be held at Tokyo Big Sight on Friday, July 21 and Saturday, July 22 JST. For the first time, the main stage festivities will be streamed live to the world on YouTube with simultaneous English interpretation. Visit the YouTube page to receive alerts for when the livestream begins!"

The event will kick off with an exclusive screening of One Piece: Film Red, followed by a captivating talk featuring Kaori Nazuka, the voice actor behind Uta. Afterward, One Piece Day will host a series of extraordinary events that unite the talented voice actors from the series with the visionary creators responsible for bringing the anime adaptation to life.
