Secret Invasion's Ben Mendelsohn Reveals He's a Game of Thrones "Fanatic"


Being a passionate enthusiast of Game of Thrones, working alongside the talented Emilia Clarke on Marvel's Secret Invasion has been an absolute career highlight for Ben Mendelsohn. Mendelsohn and Clarke portray a father-daughter duo in Secret Invasion, the highly anticipated Disney+ original series that brings to life the iconic comic book event involving Skrull infiltration on Earth. Emilia Clarke took center stage in a feature by the LA Times, revealing an interesting tidbit about Ben Mendelsohn's deep admiration for Game of Thrones, a series in which Clarke famously portrayed the iconic Daenerys Targaryen. It was disclosed that Mendelsohn has wholeheartedly immersed himself in the world of Game of Thrones, having watched the entire series "from start to finish" a remarkable four times. Moreover, Mendelsohn also opened up about the fascinating dynamics that unfolded between him and Clarke while portraying their respective characters on screen.

"I believe Emilia and I can perceive enough in each other to simply relax and embrace the unknown together," expressed Mendelsohn. "We allowed ourselves to enter a magical realm where intimacy was allowed to flourish, and it felt incredibly fulfilling." He also shared glimpses of their off-camera interactions.

"We would sit on a bench and engage in conversations about what it meant to grow up as actors, considering both of us started at a young age," he shared. "We were genuinely kind to each other, and that in itself felt enchanting." The director of Secret Invasion, Ali Selim, also commented on the captivating chemistry between the two actors.

"While standing on set with her, I'm constantly amazed by her ability to tap into what I would call a universal truth and express it through dialogue, even with subtle eyebrow raises," Selim acknowledged. "Watching her perform makes me feel like she is capable of anything."

Ben Mendelsohn has previously expressed admiration for Emilia Clarke as well. During an interview with's Brandon Davis about Secret Invasion, Mendelsohn praised his onscreen daughter.
