Silk: Spider Society Show Will Reportedly Move Forward After Writers Strike

Despite the recent negotiation challenges between the AMPTP and WGA, the production of the Silk: Spider Society show will resume once a deal is reached.



According to a report from TVLine, when asked about the potential impact of the WGA strike on Sony's plans to expand the Spider-Verse TV franchise on platforms like Amazon and MGM+, there is reassuring news. The response indicates that fans need not worry, as Silk: Spider Society will continue its forward momentum once the AMPTP and WGA have successfully reached an agreement.


This live-action series is set within the Spider-Man universe and has already received a series order from MGM+. It serves as the initial step in an exciting lineup of forthcoming television shows based on the extensive Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel characters. MGM+ has announced plans to develop a "suite of live-action television series centered on the Sony Pictures universe of Marvel characters, encompassing a vast roster of over 900 characters.







Sony's Silk TV Show

The show revolves around the character Cindy Moon, a Korean-American woman who acquires her extraordinary powers after being bitten by the same spider that granted Peter Parker his abilities. Cindy embarks on a transformative journey that takes her from captivity to assuming the mantle of the superhero known as Silk, all while she relentlessly searches for her missing family.


Angela Kang, the esteemed executive producer of The Walking Dead, will serve as the showrunner, leading the talented creative team behind the series. Kang has joined forces with renowned producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, celebrated for their work on the acclaimed film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, as well as Amy Pascal, a key figure in Sony's successful Spider-Man franchise.

Silk: Spider Society is set to debut on MGM+ before becoming available worldwide on Prime Video.
