Star Trek: Prodigy Season 1's Final Episodes Are Coming to Blu-Ray, up for Pre-Order

Exciting news for fans of Star Trek: Prodigy! The final episodes of Season 1 will receive a physical media release. Star Trek: Prodigy: Season 1 – Episodes 11-20 can now be pre-ordered on Blu-ray and DVD from Amazon. Following the cancellation of the previously announced second season and its removal from the Paramount+ library, Paramount+ made the second half of Star Trek: Prodigy Season 1 available for purchase digitally on platforms like Amazon and Apple TV. Until now, only the first 10 episodes had been released on physical media. The upcoming release of Star Trek: Prodigy: Season 1 – Episodes 11-20 on Blu-ray and DVD is slated for September 26th. Fans are encouraged to pre-order soon, as the Blu-ray edition of Star Trek: Prodigy: Season 1: Episodes 1-10 sold out at various retailers, including Amazon, Target, Walmart, and Best Buy, following Paramount+'s removal announcement (though it is currently back in stock).

While the new Blu-ray and DVD release ensures that the first season of Star Trek: Prodigy will be available in physical form, there have been no further updates regarding the search for a new home for the still-in-production second season. Paramount+ had initially planned to release Star Trek: Prodigy Season 2 in winter 2023, with work on the season reportedly nearing completion. However, instead of streaming it on Paramount+, the studio will now explore opportunities to sell the series to another streaming service or television network. Should Star Trek: Prodigy Season 2 not find a new home, several unresolved plot threads, including the fate of Star Trek: Voyager fan-favorite Chakotay (voiced by Robert Beltran), for whom Admiral Janeway (voiced by Kate Mulgrew) has been searching, will remain hanging.

What is Star Trek: Prodigy?

Star Trek: Prodigy centers around the adventures of the young crew aboard the USS Protostar, a starship they discovered on the prison colony of Tars Lamora in the vast Delta Quadrant. Although primarily aimed at younger audiences, Star Trek: Prodigy garnered excitement among long-time Star Trek fans as it brought back Kate Mulgrew to lend her voice to Kathryn Janeway, both in the form of Hologram Janeway and Admiral Janeway.

The voice cast of Star Trek: Prodigy features a talented ensemble, including Brett Gray as Dal R'El, Ella Purnell as Gwyn, Rylee Alazraqui as Rok-Tahk, Angus Imrie as Zero, Jason Mantzoukas as Jankom Pog, Dee Bradley Baker as Murf, John Noble as The Diviner, and Jimmi Simpson as Drednok. Additionally, the recurring voice cast includes Daveed Diggs as Commander Tysess, Jameela Jamil as Ensign Asencia, Jason Alexander as Doctor Noum, Robert Beltran as Captain Chakotay, and Billy Campbell as Thadiun Okona.
