Star Wars: Ahsoka's Sabine Actor Teases a Complicated Relationship in the Series

Star Wars fans are not only thrilled about Rosario Dawson bringing Ahsoka Tano to life in the upcoming Star Wars: Ahsoka series, but also excited for the live-action debut of Sabine Wren from Star Wars Rebels, portrayed by Natasha Liu Bordizzo. Although the animated series showcased both characters as allies, their dynamic has evolved and their experiences have introduced some complexities to their relationship in the new series. While Ahsoka and Sabine share a deep level of respect, Bordizzo hinted that they won't necessarily be the best of friends when we encounter them in the upcoming show. Star Wars: Ahsoka is set to premiere on Disney+ on August 23rd.

"In the show, they've been through a lot during the time that has passed, some of which we know about and some we don't," Bordizzo shared in an interview with SFX Magazine, as reported by GamesRadar. "Their quests end up overlapping, bringing them back together, but there's tension and unresolved issues they need to work out. Their reunion is interesting!"

Audiences last witnessed the duo in the finale of Star Wars Rebels, where they, along with Ezra Bridger, Hera Syndulla, and Zeb Orrelios, faced off against Grand Admiral Thrawn. This finale took place before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope. While the episode featured Ezra seemingly sacrificing himself to defeat Thrawn, neither character's fate was officially confirmed. The finale concluded with Ahsoka and Sabine reuniting after the events of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, both sporting new looks, as they joined forces to explore the galaxy in search of the believed-to-be-alive Ezra.

Trailers for Ahsoka confirm that the duo has come together to continue their quest for Ezra and Thrawn. However, Bordizzo's comments, along with the footage, suggest that both characters have embarked on personal journeys that have strained their relationship.

The beloved Star Wars character Ahsoka Tano makes her return in a highly anticipated new series on Disney+. Portrayed by Rosario Dawson, Ahsoka takes the lead in Star Wars: Ahsoka, set to premiere in August on the streaming platform. The series continues Ahsoka's story after the events of The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, where she was seen searching for the whereabouts of Grand Admiral Thrawn (played by Lars Mikkelsen) and assisting Luke Skywalker in training Grogu. Ahsoka embarks on a new mission with her trusted allies Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) and Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), as they strive to locate Thrawn, who vanished into the depths of space following a confrontation with Ezra Bridger (portrayed by Eman Esfandi). Star Wars: Ahsoka is the latest addition to the lineup of live-action series from Lucasfilm's creative duo, Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni.

Mark your calendars for the highly anticipated premiere of Star Wars: Ahsoka on August 23rd, exclusively on Disney+.
