The Boys Stars Hypes 'More Intense' Season 4

The stars of The Boys, Laz Alonso, Karen Fukuhara, and Jessie T. Usher, recently shared exciting details about the upcoming fourth season of the Prime Video superhero satire, teasing its over-the-top content.

During a panel appearance at Florida Supercon, Alonso, Fukuhara, and Usher hyped up Season 4, describing it as even more intense than the show's previous three seasons. "I can confidently say that Season 4 is the most intense one yet," Alonso revealed. "The stakes are higher, and everyone is taking bigger risks than ever before." Fukuhara added that the upcoming episodes will feature "new fluids," while Usher playfully mentioned the addition of two elements to the periodic table due to the show's storyline. Alonso also teased a hilarious gag involving Fukuhara that left him in "uncontrollable tears."

These comments align with earlier remarks from co-star Simon Pegg, who cautioned fans that The Boys Season 4 would be even more outrageous than its predecessors. Pegg, known for his role as Hugh Campbell Sr., described the fourth season as "crazier" than ever before and expressed how enjoyable it was to film. Additionally, Pegg revealed that Hugh Sr. would receive more screen time in Season 4, appearing in up to four episodes. Some of these scenes will feature Pegg alongside Rosemarie DeWitt, who joins the cast as Hugh Sr.'s ex-wife.

The Boys Showrunner On Expanding the Canon

The depiction of Hugh Campbell Sr. in The Boys Season 4 appears to be another departure from the original comics by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. This follows previous significant deviations, such as the expanded portrayal of Vought International's history in Season 3. Showrunner Eric Kripke discussed this departure in a recent interview, highlighting how it allowed the show to comment on "the mistakes made over generations, the consequences of misguided wars, and the presence of toxic masculinity that has contributed to the challenges we often face."

Fans will have to wait for the premiere of The Boys Season 4 to discover other alterations made to the source material by Kripke and his team. However, they might have to wait longer than initially anticipated. Although earlier reports suggested that the fourth season would be released sometime in 2023, Kripke recently indicated that a potential Writers Guild of America strike could delay the show's return until at least 2024.

All three seasons of The Boys are currently available for streaming on Prime Video.
