The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Premiere Date Revealed

Bonjour! The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, a spin-off of the popular TV show, has been announced by AMC Networks on Bastille Day. The series stars Norman Reedus and is set to premiere on Sunday, September 10th, at 9 pm ET/PT on AMC and AMC+. To celebrate the announcement, the network has also released new images from the upcoming show, showcasing some of the survivors that Daryl Dixon (played by Reedus) will encounter when he finds himself in post-apocalyptic Marseille, France. Among the characters he will meet are Isabelle (played by Clémence Poésy), Quinn (played by Adam Nagaitis), Genet (played by Anne Charrier), Fallou (played by Eriq Ebouaney), Sylvie (played by Laika Blanc Francard), Codron (played by Romain Levi), and Laurent (played by Louis Puech Scigliuzzi).

According to the official description, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon follows the journey of Daryl as he washes ashore in France, facing the challenge of piecing together his memories and understanding how he ended up there. The series chronicles his travels through a shattered yet resilient France, as he searches for a way back home. However, as Daryl embarks on this journey, the relationships he forms along the way complicate his original plan.

The upcoming standalone series delves into a "Stranger In a Strange Land" scenario, as described by Greg Nicotero, the director and executive producer of the show. He drew a parallel to Robert A. Heinlein's 1961 novel, where a person raised on Mars struggles to navigate the customs of an alien world: Earth. This concept will be explored through the perspective of Daryl Dixon, portrayed by Norman Reedus, as he navigates post-apocalyptic Europe.

Daryl Dixon takes place after the conclusion of The Walking Dead series, which saw Daryl riding off on his motorcycle, vowing to keep an eye out for Michonne (played by Danai Gurira) and Rick Grimes (played by Andrew Lincoln).

Reedus shared his thoughts on the series finale, mentioning that there was a moment that brought a smile to his face, and that tone is carried over to the spin-off, albeit with the typical "everything goes horribly wrong" characteristic of The Walking Dead. He expressed his excitement about exploring what lies beyond and experiencing the new world.

Describing the tone of the series, Reedus noted that it is significantly different, featuring unique cinematography and lighting. The storyline takes place in castles and carries a religious undertone. Additionally, Daryl finds himself surrounded by people speaking French, leaving him uncertain if it will lead to conflict.

Leading the series as showrunner is David Zabel, known for his work on ER. He serves as an executive producer alongside Reedus, Nicotero, Angela Kang (from The Walking Dead), Brian Bockrath (from The Walking Dead: Dead City), Daniel Percival (from The Man in the High Castle), and Scott M. Gimple, the chief content officer of AMC's TWDU (The Walking Dead Universe).

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is set to premiere on Sunday, September 10th, on both AMC and AMC+.
