The Witcher: Netflix Reminds Fans Henry Cavill Is Still Geralt in Season 3

As rumors circulate about Henry Cavill's departure from The Witcher, Netflix is keen on reminding viewers that the acclaimed actor still portrays Geralt in Season 3 of the series.

Netflix recently took to its official Twitter page to share a series of promotional images accompanied by the text, "Yes, he's still Geralt in Season 3," alongside the show's title and the Netflix logo. This move is likely a response to concerns raised by fans regarding Cavill's presence in both parts of Season 3, given the news of his departure from the role of Geralt starting from Season 4 and onwards. Many fans have expressed their disappointment, believing that The Witcher won't be the same without Cavill, who gained recognition for his portrayal of the Man of Steel. Some have even voiced skepticism about Liam Hemsworth, who has been mentioned as a potential replacement for the role of the iconic monster hunter.

Even Cavill's fellow cast members have praised his deep passion for The Witcher franchise. Anya Chalotra, who stars alongside him in the series, has acknowledged Cavill's extensive knowledge of Andrzej Sapkowski's fantasy novels. She revealed that when it comes to understanding the intricacies of the world of The Witcher, Cavill is unparalleled. "No one knows more about the world of The Witcher, the rules, regulations, and the deep Witcher knowledge than [Cavill]. He is at the top," Chalotra shared. "Working with someone like that is a blessing because there are days when you might struggle to fully immerse yourself in the world. But he's always there to remind us, 'We've got this.'"

Cavill Says Goodbye to Geralt

While the exact reason for Cavill's decision to depart The Witcher following Season 3 remains undisclosed, no concrete explanation has been provided thus far. Various reports have suggested that disagreements with the creative team regarding the story and portrayal of Geralt might have played a role, while others speculate that Cavill's anticipated return to the DC Extended Universe as Superman didn't materialize as expected. Liam Hemsworth has been chosen to take on the role of Geralt in all future seasons, a casting decision that has left many fans perplexed and disappointed. Nevertheless, The Witcher's co-stars have expressed their anticipation for working with the new Geralt, even though the experience might initially feel unfamiliar.

"Excited. Yeah, I can't wait to have Liam join us. Well, technically he's already part of the team, but to meet him and have him embody Geralt," Chalotra expressed. "It's going to be surreal, and I know I'll definitely feel that void. I believe we all will." Hemsworth is set to make his first appearance as Geralt in Season 4, although an exact release date has yet to be confirmed.

Season 3 of The Witcher is currently available for streaming on Netflix, with Volume 1 already released. Fans can look forward to Volume 2 arriving on July 27.
