Xbox Game Pass Users Surprised How Much They Like New "Really Dark" Game

Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers on Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PC have been pleasantly surprised by a hidden gem that recently joined the Game Pass library. Despite flying under the radar for many Xbox gamers since its release a couple of months ago, this game has garnered a surge of attention since it arrived on Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate this week. The game in question is Bramble: The Mountain King, an action-adventure title developed by Dimfrost Studio and published by Merge Games. While the game doesn't have enough reviews for a Metacritic score, it boasts an "Overwhelmingly Positive" Steam User Review rating with a remarkable 96 percent approval rate.

A post on the Xbox Game Pass Reddit page highlighted Bramble: The Mountain King, with the user expressing how dark and cool the game is and encouraging fellow subscribers to give it a try. The sentiment has been echoed by commenters on the post, further emphasizing the positive reception of the game.

"I played Bramble: The Mountain King yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. I managed to finish more than half of the game, and it really exceeded my expectations. It didn't seem great at first during the first 30 minutes, but it progressively improved and became much better. In fact, it's the first game on Game Pass that I've genuinely enjoyed in a very long time," reads one comment. Another comment praises it as one of the best games they've played this year.

"Bramble: The Mountain King takes you on a captivating and unsettling journey through breathtaking landscapes. Assume the role of Olle, a young boy embarking on a quest to rescue his kidnapped sister from a fearsome troll. However, not everything in Bramble is as it appears. In this peculiar realm teeming with creatures both large and small, caution is essential. The forests and caves are inhabited by numerous hungry and malevolent beasts. Watch your step as you navigate this treacherous world..."

Xbox Game Pass offers two options: the standard subscription and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. The standard subscription is priced at $10 per month, while the Ultimate subscription costs $15 per month. However, starting July 6, both plans will see a price increase to $11 and $17 per month, respectively. Alternatively, if you prefer to own the game outright, you can purchase it for $29.99. Keep in mind that the game has a relatively short playtime of three to five hours. Therefore, if you don't mind treating it as a rental through Game Pass, you can complete it within a single month's subscription, saving yourself $20.
