The Elusive Samurai

A new character visual and a trailer for the upcoming TV anime series "The Elusive Samurai" have been released. The trailer introduces a character named Ayako, and she is voiced by Sayumi Suzushiro. The anime is expected to start airing in 2024.

The show is directed by Yuuta Yamazaki, who was the assistant director for "Wonder Egg Priority." Yasushi Nishiya, known for working on "Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle," is the character designer. Yoriko Tomita, who worked on "My Dress-Up Darling," is the series screenwriter. The animation production is done by CloverWorks.

The anime "The Elusive Samurai" boasts a voice cast that includes Sayumi Suzushiro as Ayako. Joining her are other talented voice actors such as Asaki Yuikawa, who voices Hojo, Yuuichi Nakamura in the role of Suwa Yorishige, Mari Hino lending her voice to Kojirou, Aoi Yuuki portraying Genba Kazama, and Kikunosuke Toya as Fubuki.

The Elusive Samurai is a manga series created by Yuusei Matsui. It first appeared in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump on January 25, 2021. As of November 2023, there are thirteen tankoubon volumes available. Viz Media publishes the manga in English in printed form.


Shueisha also releases the series in both English and Spanish simultaneously on the Manga Plus app, where they provide a brief description of the story as:

"Set in feudal Japan in between the Kamakura and Muromachi periods, our hero Hojo Tokiyuki is a boy on the run that history all but forgot! When the Kamakura shogunate is overthrown by Ashikaga Takauji, Tokiyuki’s family and standing are viciously taken away from him, and he must flee to the far reaches of the land to survive and seek out his revenge!"
